v. Falkirk match highlights

On the BBC site here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/scotland/7995999.stm

Funny how I never realised at the game how at the first goal, the ball did not  “break”   to KK – he really had to run for it and took the shot so well.

Killie 3 Falkirk 0 11th April 2009

Killie fans acclaim KK after he scores the third goalA Kevin Kyle hat trick settles the six-pointer. The big man rightly acclaimed MoM, but every player tried hard. His strike partner, Danny Invincible’s never-say-die running brought us the third as he cut back a ball that looked bound for the bye-line.

Although we gifted the Bairns a few chances, they were not up to the challenge and our desperados in defence made good. Simon Ford alone must have made several thousand headed clearances.

Fernandez and Pascali dropped to the bench, leaving Taouil in the wide left role and Skelton in the middle. With Bryson and Hamill’s running, we looked much more promising.

We played KK as we should, throwing good balls into the box for his head. The simple approach paid off and it was a well-deserved win to put us on 33 points – 6 points ahead of Falkirk. That’s not to deny the good outfield play we demonstrated at times. Never at any point after the first five minutes did we look like being troubled. More of the same please Mr Jeffries.

Hearts 3 Killie 1 – 4th April 2009

The radio commentators described Killie as being in free-fall. How apt. Taking only 5 from a possible 36 points this year, we are in serious danger of relegation and the abyss. The free-fall may be interminable.

It’s hard to detect any positive opportunity, although scoring first from an Invincible header against the run of play might indicate that at least the team take to the park with some determination. It felt like that spirit sapped away throughout this game, with the Jambos getting chance after chance but failing to make any further headway, even missing  (an admittedly dodgy) penalty.

It sounds like only Kyle gets pass marks, but its difficult from only the radio reports. It is clear that Killie were well behind the pace of play, our defensive mess continuing and giving the ball away cheaply.
