Killie 1 Burnley 0 6th Aug 2009

An enjoyable game for a pre-season friendly. Killie clearly matched the Premiership boys  in every department. With Hamill, then Bryson, then Skelton asserting their authority on the midfield, the home team looked the more likely, but still lacked a cutting edge up front. Mark Burchill will have to step up a bit to play at this level!!

Killie won by a slightly bizarre own goal when O’Leary’s forward punt was headed past his own keeper by Burnley No.5,  Carlisle. Much laughter around RP.

The visitors had a couple of mere half chances and so did we. Another moment of note was when Burnley substitute Chris Eagles ran onto the park and was immediately confronted in a challenge by Garry Hay. Cool as an iced cucumber and  exhibiting the team’s superiority at that point, Hooky back-heeled the ball past Eagles to man of the match, Skelton. A classy addition to the game from the testimonial-season man.

A nice night out.
